VCU Hires New Head Coach Replacement
VCU has found and hired the replacement for Ryan Odom who left to join Virginia after VCU’s loss to BYU in the NCAA tournament. After interviewing multiple candidates, the Rams hired Phil Martelli Jr., the former coach of Bryant. In his 2 seasons at Bryant, his record was 43-25 and led them to this year’s NCAA tournament. Phil Martelli Jr. has a tough task ahead of him to keep the VCU roster intact with many players wanting to enter the transfer portal or follow Odom to UVA. But VCU fans have seen this happen before with former coaches leaving and bringing players with them and VCU will likely be competing for top of the A10 again next season.
